Charles was born in Chippenham in March 1922, to George and Elizabeth Bond. He joined the army sometime before 1942 and served in the Royal Engineers. In 1942, he married Winsome Blake in his home town and they had a daughter, Margaret.

He died following an operation at a military hospital in Oxford on 8th October 1946. He was 24 years old.

At the time of writing this guide the grave for Sapper Bond has deteriorated to the extent that the inscription is illegible and the Commonwealth War Graves will, in time, mark the burial with a CWGC marker.

Corsham (St Batholomew) Church Burial Ground War Graves
