William originally served with the 1st Battalion, The Dorsetshire Regiment (service number 20249). He was subsequently transferred to the Royal Defence Corps in 1916 and served in the 253rd Provisional Company on home defence duties.
He died in Corsham on 2nd January 1918.
This burial ground is the resting place for 22 servicemen who gave their lives on the First & Second World Wars. A number were men who had lived in the town or had family connections to the area.
